Canada Extends Immigration Targets to the Year 2021

Canada has increased its immigration targets and extended its multi-year immigration plan from the year 2020 to the year 2021 setting the targets to 1.3 million.

The changes were made public by Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada as on date 31 October 2018.

“Under this plan, Canada will welcome more talented workers with the skills and expertise their economy needs, reunite more family members and accommodate more refugees looking to start new lives”.

Roles to be played by Express Entry and PNP’s

The Express Entry System and Provincial Nominee Program will play an important role in the expansion of the multi-level Immigration plan. Based on the targets out of the 1.3 million immigrants Canada has planned to welcome a quarter of it nearly 331,000 immigrants through Express Entry System 3 economic classes The Federal Skilled Worker Class, The Federal Skilled Trade Worker Class and Canadian Experience Class.

Meanwhile the PNP’s set for a target of 255,100 which accounts the 19 percent of the total 1.3 million set targets.

Canada’s economic Immigration Programs will be largely responsible for welcoming around 60 percent of the targeted 1.3 million Immigrants in Canada. Other programs in the class include the Atlantic Immigration Pilot programs and economic immigration programs administered by the government of Quebec.

Canada’s minister of IRCC Ahmed Hussen said “Growing immigration levels, particularly in the Economic Class, will help us sustain our labor force, support economic growth and spur innovation,”

The Immigration level plan will also help the expansion through family members.

The target of maintaining the admissions through spouses, children, and partners for 2021 is 70,000.

IRCC also expanded the range of potential admissions through its Parents and Grandparents sponsorship program but will keep up its established targets for 2019 and 2020 (20,500 and 21,000, respectively). The admissions target for this program in 2021 is set at 21,000.

The expansion of Immigration plan is a good news for people looking to Immigrate to Canada.
