Express Entry draw figures for February 7, 2018.

Result of the third Express Entry draw for permanent residency candidates in 2018 is out. There has been  a slight decrease in the number of Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points required in order for a candidate to receive an invitation to apply (ITA), compared to the previous draw on January 24. The CRS score of the lowest-ranked invited candidate has come out to be 442, with 3,000 ITAs issued in total.

In the recent draws, a tie-break has been applied, as multiple candidates might have been a score 442 CRS points, which gives priority to those who have had a profile in the pool for a longer period especially those, candidates with 442 CRS points who created their profile before May 29, 2017 at 07:01:15 UTC were invited in this latest draw.

The Comprehensive Ranking System is a score out of 1,200 used to check federal economic applicants against one another.

It’s a part of the Express Entry System, which was established in January 2015 to process residency applications.

The score is used as a cut-off point in Express Entry draws. It is designed to project a candidate’s probability of being economically successful in Canada.

To enter the pool, candidates must be eligible under the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class, or Federal Skilled Trades Class.

Candidates who get a provincial nomination through one of the Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) streams receive 600 additional CRS points and are issued an ITA in the upcoming draw from the pool.

 Express Entry PNPs

Provincial Nomination Programs, or PNPs, linked to the Express Entry system have also had an active couple of weeks since the January 24 draw. In that time, Express Entry-aligned PNP streams in the provinces of Ontario, New Brunswick have opened and Manitoba also held a draw for Express Entry candidates.

On January 26, Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities Stream issued Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to 380 Express Entry candidates with CRS scores ranging from 433 to 444.
